sanju03-19 10:37 PMEliminate EAD renewals every year. This will reduce the paper work and hence improve performance. Unless people change their jobs, there should be no need to renew.
TravInd,
Consider that I am your angel and I just heard your voice. As of this moment, I grant you your wish. You no longer have to renew your EAD every year. From now on you could just renew your EAD every 2 years. Hope this makes you happy.
If you ask me something with your heart, I will listen and may grant your wish. Be nice.
Truly yours,
Angel # 4567

spicy_guy07-14 04:48 PMMr. Pagal,
Its very unfortunate, that most of us are very active only when a Visa Bulletin is released, bickering about EB1, EB3, EB1 etc. Then the topic dies until the next visa bulletin is released.
There are plenty of action items to do, have you checked those, I recommend you do that ASAP. Mind that the IV core also has a professional and personal life, no one pays them to do what they do at IV. Simply pointing fingers at others will not help with our cause. Contributing some $$ is also an action Item, I suggest you start with that.
Have a good one!!
7z
Understandably so. But the contention is that whatever efforts that IV putting in, is not helping EB3 much. Not finger pointing that IV hasn't done anything or biased towards EB3. But its just the fact that its helping only EB2 folks (of course, nothing against EB2), but everyone can see the how badly EB3I is affected.
It doesn't make sense if people argue EB2 are brightest or high cast community. That's a BS. Most, if not all, know the fact that its not a case.
Yes, I would suggest working with IV to achieve the goals.

rimzhim02-01 10:13 PM02/01/2007 21/30 p.m.: Senate Passed Immigration Reform Bill Today
The Senate passed today Fair Minimum Wage Act, H.R. 2 today. The House passed this bill, H.R. 2 and the Senate debated the bill for the past several days. In the process, hundreds of amendments had been introduced on the Senate floor. The Senate floor then agreed to a lot of these amendments. One of these amendments which the Senate had agreed to and passed as Division B of the H.R. 2 is the Immigration Reform bill.
The immigration reform bill was introduced by Senator John Kerry and agreed to by the floor unanimously. The immigration reform bill that the Senate passed today covers a lot of the provisions which were part of the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2006 which the Senate passed last year and failed in the House.
We will analyze the bill and report it step by step for the next several days. Please stay tuned to this website.
their website does not say this. havent we had enough?

longwait4gc02-11 05:00 PMDoes any one know the reason behind long wait for perms, Is it tied to economy or they are busy with some thing else? My colleague who applied in early 2008 got it 1 month. Now the wait time is more than 6 months.

Nil03-20 09:29 AMAs some of you know, I have been working with news media, government leaders, and immigration lawyers over the past year because of the stimulus debacle. As a result, I have developed some strong contacts in government. I will be meeting some congressional immigration staffers in the next few days and I have developed a list of issues to discuss. If you want to post your own issues, feel free to do so in this thread and I will add them to the list. These are the same people who helped get the last stimulus bill changed in our favor, so they do have influence.
PLEASE be brief - bullet points would be good.
Also links to articles to support your concerns are welcome. I will put together a package to hand out at the meeting.
I thought of posting a poll on this thread, but decided it would be better to leave the discussion open ended.
Issues that should be addressed:
- The lawyer-employer nexus determines the category of immigration, often to their advantage.
- Documents like labor and I140 are never shared with the employee.
- The unfortunate in the slowest category gets a shot at US citizenship far later (10-15 yrs) than their more lucky counterparts.
- Changing employment is very risky and an employee remains bound to serve the same employer for many years, or have the process reset.

sunny100001-12 06:59 PMOne of IVs priorities has been to have a uniform skills based system like other developed countries Eg. Canada.
members are welcome to join in that initiative as weel and suggest ideas.
I'm actually preparing a doc for a way to fairly convert people from EB to a points based skills system. This would also eliminate country based quotas as a side effect.
The CIR in 2007 had a similar proposal, but they did not compensate those already in EB queues.
There is a post from logiclife arguing against the points system back in 2007 (I will find that and post it here). Since when did IV change the strategy to go with the "points system"? The simple argument against the points system is that Government (and NOT the employer) decides who is qualifed in a points based system as against the current system which only allows qualified people with a job and being inside the U.S, to apply and get GC (as against the points system which can be from anywhere in the world).
The current system can be and should be fixed instead of moving to the points based system. For instance, remove the per country quota, allow a non-immigrant visa to be converted into an immigrant visa by an employee without going thru the labor and I-140 after a certain amount of time (3-5 years) which takes away the hold of the employer on your GC process, increase the EB numbers etc.

Like I said I'm willing to contribute if necessary. We have 50+ people here so it should not break anyone's bank...that's if most of us chip in.
Google Ron Gotcher and you will see who is he. He is an immigration attorny.

sukhwinderd03-09 09:52 AMmore than $10,000 if they keep you in limbo.
in my case, the companies i worked at has spent nearly 50,000$ ( in USCIS + lawyer + misc fee) for my H1s and my GC applications.
I know there are plenty of suggestions flying around and here is my 2 cent, it may or may not make too much sense, but here it is.
We can rant about the difficulties of not getting a GC, make emotional pleas of our struggles all day, but nothing talks better than money. In the current scenario nothing will grab more attention if you can show how we contribute to the US govt and the US economy in monetary terms. Nothing else will get the attention of these lawmakers like money can. ;-)
Can we put out some numbers for the lawmakers, in terms of our contribution to federal & state taxes, social security, property taxes and overall economy by way of our purchasing power home, cars, appliances, vacations, etc (all the amount that you spend in the US) and multiply these numbers by the number of folks waiting to get GC or who have the GCs. I am sure when you add all this up it will be a significant number, which is bound to catch some attention. Assuming the majority of us make more than the average American, all these figures will definitely standout.
Also propose a one time fee of $10,000 to apply for GC right away. I am willing to pay this fee if USCIS can grant me a GC or provide us a way to stay and work legally in this country with no tie in to the employer. This could be a significant amount of revenue, especially when all lawmakers are looking to reduce the deficit and raise some income. As it is they are regularly increasing the visa fees to pay for some bill to the other like the 9/11 workers healthcare bill, etc. If a 100,000 folks(not sure how many are there in total) like us cough up $10,000 that could equal 1 billion. May seem small amount compare to the US deficit, but when you add up our total contribution it is significant. This may be totally outlandish, but I think something on this line is worth talking about. Like I said, nothing talks better than money.
Not sure if there have been other similar ideas, but if we can compile a few pages of such information with numbers, graphs, comparative charts etc and hand them out to the lawmakers it may help.
Comments and feedback welcome. May be this is totally a dumb idea, but if the admins think it makes sense willing to discuss and prepare something. Also this post is not meant to begin a debate or to distract us from our goal but just some thoughts.
PS: Have contributed in the past and intend to participate (financially and in person) on the Advocacy day.

bfadlia06-27 11:25 AMTo all EB3 members whose PD is current:
Monday is the last day. If you don't get your GC approved, you got to wait for at least 7/8 months before they start moving dates forward. Beginning of each fiscal year, the dates are generally very conservative.
And for ROW EB3, if the bill passes to eliminate country quota, you will be getting your GC in not less than 5 years from now which you could have get it if your f**ing attorney/company would have file it 7 days earlier! Big time screwed! I am one of them!
The good thing is eliminating the country quota is always lumped with doubling the total quota and/or recapturing previous years waste, so hopefully the affect evens itself out.. Eliminating the coutry qouta by itself is a disaster.
